About Mira Technical Consulting

Jon Tallon is the founder of Mira Technical Consulting LLC, bringing more than 25 years of experience in software engineering, operations, and program management to every engagement. His career has been defined by a consistent thread: a deeper interest in the processes, systems, and organizational structures that make technology teams work – rather than the technology itself. That orientation is what Mira is built on.

Jon began his career as a software engineer after earning a BS in Electrical Engineering from Michigan Technological University in 1997. He later completed an MBA at the Milwaukee School of Engineering in 2018. Over the following 15 years he progressed through a series of supply chain software companies – McHugh Freeman, McHugh Software, and RedPrairie – growing from software engineer through project leader and project consultant to Director. In that director role, his responsibilities expanded well beyond delivery: he led quality assurance, technical writing, training, and professional services teams, developing the cross-functional operational instincts that would define his later work.

In 2013 Jon moved to API Healthcare and the healthcare technology industry. Through a series of acquisitions – first into GE Healthcare, then spun out as symplr – he advanced from Senior Engineering Manager through Director to Vice President. It was here that his career crystallized into Engineering Operations. He founded and grew symplr's engineering operations function from scratch, building it into a 20-person organization that supported more than 500 developers and governed delivery across a rapidly expanding multi-product portfolio – including the integration of eight acquired engineering organizations. He subsequently served as Vice President of Business Operations at CentralSquare Technologies, where he applied the same operational discipline to a public sector SaaS organization.

Jon founded Mira to make that expertise available beyond the large enterprises where he developed it. His engineering background gives him credibility with technical teams; his years leading cross-functional operations give him the perspective to see – and fix – the whole system.

Outside of work, Jon is married and lives in rural Wisconsin. He has two adult children – one in medical school, one studying physics. His primary hobby is astrophotography.
